In the summer of 2023 I came up with the idea of creating a new line in Mira Isan Studio brand. A line that be perpetual, never stops, and always be a part of my brand. The idea of Classics coming from my never ending love for basic outfits. I spend most of my days in my basics and they are my ultimate go to for almost every place and occasion unless I have something very special for the place or event that I’m going to. So I thought I should make a line including yarns and patterns for people like me, giving them the opportunity to make their own basic garments. But I didn’t want to call the line Basics, and I preferred Classics rather than Basics.
Our Classics line, meant to develop a timeless presence that embraces classic design principles. Use simplicity, balance, and harmony to create captivating garments, elegant accessories, and intuitive fashion for an effortless experience.
When you search for basic apparel knitting patterns, interestingly you see there are many and sometimes none! It’s so hard actually to find some absolutely simple and basics designs that are written well, technically edited and knit-wise tested.
One of the good examples of a basic design for a hat is perhaps Musselburgh hat by Ysolda. This is exactly the kinds of design I think of when thinking about a basic classic hat. For this sample I tested one of the new colorways of Classics, which is Bergen, with shades of blue, just like the city itself and used a whole skein of it in Merino Sock base. A supersoft base with 85% superwash merino and 15% nylon that never makes itching feelings when you wear :)

For the Autumn/Winter 2023 and the first release of this collection I chose names of cities and places for each colorway. The connections that I found between colors and cities/areas are just based on my personal feelings, observations and interpretation, so if you thought your city and the assigned color has nothing to do with it, don’t be annoyed please, and instead write me your comment, I’d be happy to read your views on this.
